  • Beef cubes (shank or brisket)300 g
  • Pre-made chili paste (sambal tumis)5 tbsp
  • Shallots5
  • Garlic cloves4
  • Ginger1-inch piece
  • Tomato paste2 tbsp
  • Ketchup2 tbsp
  • Soy sauce1 tbsp
  • Sugar1 tsp
  • Saltto taste
  • Water1.5 liters
  • Vegetable oil2 tbsp
  • Potatoes1 large
  • Carrots1 medium
  • Spring onionsfor garnish
  • Red chili slicesfor garnish
