    Shape the Putu Mayam: Fill a Putu Mayam mould or a piping bag with a star nozzle with the dough. Pipe the dough onto the prepared steamer in small, circular patterns.

    Steam the Putu Mayam: Steam for 5-7 minutes until cooked through and translucent. Do not overcook.

    Prepare the palm sugar syrup: In a saucepan, combine palm sugar, water, and pandan leaves (if using). Heat gently, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Simmer for a few minutes until slightly thickened. Strain if necessary.
