- Ground turmeric1 tsp
- Ground coriander1/2 tsp
- Ground cumin1/4 tsp
- Salt1 tsp
- Toasted cashews for garnish1/4 cup
- Red chili, thinly sliced for garnish1/2

Rinse the basmati rice until the water runs clear. Drain well.

In a pot, melt the butter over medium heat.

Add the ground turmeric, coriander, and cumin. Stir for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Add the rinsed rice to the pot and stir to coat the grains with the spice mixture. Toast for 1 minute.

Pour in the water and add salt. Stir to combine.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until rice is cooked and liquid is absorbed.

Let rest, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork.
