If using uncooked rice, cook it according to package directions. For a quicker version, use pre-cooked or day-old rice and reheat it until warm.

In a large bowl, combine the chopped mixed fresh herbs, minced shallots, and minced garlic.

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce (or tamari), sesame oil, and lime juice to make the dressing. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
