- Whole duck1 (approx. 2kg)
- Five-spice powder1.5 tbsp
- Soy sauce3 tbsp
- Honey1.5 tbsp
- Garlic powder1 tsp
- Salt1 tsp
- Black pepper1 tsp
- Aluminum foilSufficient amount

Clean the duck thoroughly. Prick the skin.

Mix marinade: Combine five-spice powder, soy sauce, honey, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

Marinate the duck: Rub the mixture all over the duck. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).

Wrap the duck: Tightly wrap the marinated duck in aluminum foil.

Initial roast: Roast the foil-wrapped duck for 1 hour.

Crisp the skin: Unwrap the duck, increase oven temperature to 220°C (425°F). Roast for another 20-30 minutes, or until the skin is golden and crispy. Baste with pan juices if desired.

Rest and serve: Let the duck rest for 10 minutes before carving.
