- Pre-cut beef stew meat800g
- Dry red wine500 ml
- Onions1 large
- Carrots2 medium
- Garlic cloves3
- Beef broth400 ml
- Tomato paste1 tbsp
- All-purpose flour1.5 tbsp
- Vegetable oil2 tbsp
- Bay leaf1
- Saltto taste
- Black pepperto taste

Cut beef into bite-sized pieces if not already pre-cut. Season with salt and pepper.

Heat vegetable oil in a pot over medium-high heat. Brown the beef in batches. Remove and set aside.

Chop onion and carrots. Mince garlic.

Add onion and carrots to the pot and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

Stir in tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.

Sprinkle flour over the vegetables and stir for 1 minute.

Pour in red wine, bring to a simmer, and cook for 3 minutes.

Return beef to the pot. Add beef broth and bay leaf. Bring to a simmer.

Cover and simmer on low heat for about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes, or until beef is tender.

Remove bay leaf. Adjust seasoning. Serve hot.
