A simplified version of ponchky made without yeast, using baking powder for leavening. These are faster to prepare and still deliver a delightful fried treat.

Съставки

  • All-purpose flour300g
  • Granulated sugar50g
  • Baking powder2 tsp
  • Salt1/2 tsp
  • Milk150ml
  • Egg1
  • Vegetable oil for frying1 liter
  • Powdered sugar for dusting50g

    In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

    In a separate bowl, whisk together milk and egg.

    Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

    Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead a few times until it comes together.

    Roll out the dough to about 1 cm thickness.

    Cut out donut shapes using cutters.

    Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 180°C (350°F).

    Fry the donuts in batches for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown.

    Remove donuts with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

    Dust with powdered sugar while warm.
