Ingredients
- Pizza dough1 lb
- San Marzano tomatoes, crushed1 cup
- Low-moisture mozzarella cheese, shredded8 oz
- Pepperoni, thinly sliced4 oz
- Olive oil2 tbsp
- Garlic, minced1 clove
- Dried oregano1 tsp
- Saltto taste
- Black pepperto taste
Steps
- 1
Preheat your oven to its highest setting (usually 500-550°F or 260-290°C), preferably with a pizza stone or steel inside for at least 30 minutes.
- 2
In a small bowl, combine crushed San Marzano tomatoes, minced garlic, dried oregano, a pinch of salt, and black pepper. Stir in 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
- 3
On a lightly floured surface, stretch or roll out the pizza dough into a thin, roughly 12-14 inch circle. Transfer the dough to a pizza peel dusted with cornmeal or flour.
- 4
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- 5
Arrange the thinly sliced pepperoni evenly over the cheese.
- 6
Carefully slide the pizza from the peel onto the preheated pizza stone or steel in the oven.
- 7
Bake for 8-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned. Rotate the pizza halfway through for even cooking.
- 8
Remove the pizza from the oven, drizzle with the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil, let it rest for a minute, then slice and serve immediately.
