Ingredients
- Black beans, canned, rinsed and drained2 cans (15 oz each)
- Breadcrumbs, panko1/2 cup
- Onion, finely chopped1/2 cup
- Garlic, minced2 cloves
- Cumin1 teaspoon
- Chili powder1 teaspoon
- Egg, lightly beaten1
- Cilantro, chopped1/4 cup
- Salt1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper1/4 teaspoon
- Olive oil2 tablespoons
- Burger buns4
- Toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese)as desired

In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly broken down but still slightly chunky.

Add the panko breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, beaten egg, chopped cilantro, salt, and pepper to the mashed beans. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.

Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and heated through.
