Ingredients
- chocolate cake mix (one 15.25 oz box)1 box
- eggs3 large
- vegetable oil1/2 cup
- water1 cup
- unsalted butter1/2 cup
- unsweetened cocoa powder3 tablespoons
- vanilla extract1 teaspoon
- powdered sugar3 cups
- milk1/4 cup
- pecans, chopped (optional)1/2 cup

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 13x18 inch baking pan.

In a large bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, oil, and water. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes until well combined.

Pour batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.

While the cake is baking, prepare the frosting: In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in cocoa powder until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth and spreadable. Stir in pecans if using.
