Classic Istarski Cukerančići, small, sweet, and slightly crumbly cookies from Istria, traditionally flavored with lemon zest and sometimes a hint of nutmeg. Perfect for dipping in coffee or wine.

Sastojci
- All-purpose flour300g
- Unsalted butter, softened150g
- Granulated sugar100g
- Eggs, large1
- Lemon zest1 tsp
- Nutmeg, ground1/4 tsp
- Salt1/4 tsp
- Powdered sugar, for dusting50g

Cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the egg and lemon zest until well combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, nutmeg, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined to form a soft dough.

Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Roll small portions of dough into logs and then into small, slightly curved shapes, about 5-7 cm long.

Place cookies on the prepared baking sheets, leaving some space between them.

Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until lightly golden brown around the edges.

Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
