A classic Malay dessert made from glutinous rice flour, shaped into logs, and steamed. It's then coated in grated coconut and drizzled with palm sugar syrup.

- Glutinous rice flour250g
- Pandan extract2 tablespoons
- Water150ml
- Salt1/4 teaspoon
- Freshly grated coconut200g
- Gula Melaka (palm sugar)200g
- Water for syrup100ml
- Pandan leaf (for syrup)1

In a bowl, mix glutinous rice flour, pandan extract, water, and salt until a smooth, pliable dough forms. Add more water if needed.

Shape the dough into small logs, about 5-7 cm long and 1.5 cm thick.

Steam the shaped logs in a steamer for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through and firm.

While the kuih is steaming, prepare the syrup. Combine gula melaka, water, and a pandan leaf in a saucepan. Heat gently, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Simmer for 5-10 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove pandan leaf.

Spread the grated coconut on a plate.

Once the kuih is steamed, let it cool slightly. Roll the warm kuih logs in the grated coconut, ensuring they are evenly coated.

Arrange the coated kuih on a serving platter and drizzle generously with the palm sugar syrup.
