- Jarred vine leaves, chopped1 jar (approx. 200g)
- Ground pork or beef400g
- Rice (short-grain)100g
- Onion, finely chopped1 medium
- Tomato paste2 tbsp
- Vegetable oil3 tbsp
- Water or broth1.5 cups
- Saltto taste
- Black pepperto taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)2 tbsp

Rinse the chopped jarred vine leaves to remove excess brine.

In a pan, heat 1 tbsp oil and sauté the chopped onion until softened.

Add the ground meat to the pan and cook, breaking it up, until browned. Drain excess fat.

Stir in the rinsed rice, chopped vine leaves, tomato paste, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring.

Pour in the water or broth. Bring to a simmer, then cover and cook for about 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the mixture has thickened.

Stir in the remaining 2 tbsp oil.

Serve the 'lazy' sarmi mixture warm, garnished with fresh parsley.
