A classic Imotska Torta, a rich and dense cake from the Imotski region of Croatia, traditionally made with ground walnuts, eggs, sugar, and a hint of lemon zest, often served during celebrations.

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 24cm (9-inch) round cake pan.

In a large bowl, whisk the eggs and granulated sugar until pale and fluffy.

Stir in the finely ground walnuts, lemon zest, and vanilla extract.

Add the pinch of salt and mix well to combine.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly.

Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.

Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
