Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 24cm (9-inch) round cake pan.

In a large bowl, whisk eggs and granulated sugar until pale and fluffy.

Combine ground walnuts and almonds. Stir into the egg mixture along with orange zest and vanilla extract.

Add the pinch of salt and mix thoroughly.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and level the top.

Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 15 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.
