A traditional Dalmatian dish featuring fresh mackerel grilled over an open flame, seasoned simply to highlight the fish's natural flavor. Served with a drizzle of olive oil and lemon.

Clean and gut the mackerel. Make a few shallow diagonal cuts on both sides of each fish.

Season the fish generously inside and out with salt and black pepper.

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If using a charcoal grill, wait for the coals to be covered in white ash.

Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.

Place the mackerel on the hot grill. Grill for about 5-7 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the fish, until cooked through and the skin is crispy.

Remove the fish from the grill. Drizzle with olive oil and serve immediately with lemon wedges.
