- Banana leaves, cut into squares8-12 pieces

Prepare the filling: Sauté minced shallots. Add ground pork and cook until browned. Stir in chopped wood ear mushrooms, fish sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook briefly and set aside.

Prepare the dough: In a bowl, combine cooked rice and rice flour. Gradually pour in hot water while mixing until a thick, sticky dough forms. Add salt.

Assemble the cakes: Place a piece of banana leaf on a flat surface. Spread a portion of the rice dough onto the leaf, making a small well in the center. Add a spoonful of the pork filling. Fold the leaf to create a small, flat packet.

Steam the cakes: Arrange the packets in a steamer. Steam over medium-high heat for 25-30 minutes, until the dough is cooked through.
